Our unique abilities

Through the years, the Swedish Herbal Institute has gathered unique competence in the field of medicinal plants and natural substances. The company has extensive knowledge of ethno-botanical use and the pharmacological and clinical actions of medicinal plants. Our company offers innovative product development, including differentiation in the marketplace for products that are backed up by medical, structural and functional claims.

A resourceful Research and Development team
The company’s R&D team is a multidisciplinary team with proven expertise in phytochemistry, pharmacology of natural substances, toxicology and clinical investigation in the field of medicinal plants. Our team is supported by constant achievement in these areas. Due to our determination to pioneer these subjects, we are actively involved in 10 –15 major collaborative scientific research projects around the world, many of which will end up being published in peer-reviewed international scientific journals.

Regulatory affairs support
SHI can support you with know-how and experience in matters of regulation and authorization. When backing up medical or functional and structural claim, the value of product specific studies cannot be over estimated. Pharmacology, toxicity
and clinical studies will give your product a clear advantage in the
marketplace. In Regulatory Affairs (RA), the necessity of such studies is obvious.
