Core Values Product Development

  • Evidence based products

  • Direct effect –clinically proven within an hour when applicable

  • Second to none on the market. SHI never launch a product in a segment with less effect than existing products on the market.

  • Safety and quality

All products are produced in the GMP and API certified manufacturing plant in Vallberg, Sweden. High quality dried herbs are bought from different regions in the world, grinded, extracted with water and alcohol and then either spray-dried for capsules or filled on bottles for liquid products. All steps controlled by in-house laboratory.

Swedish Herbal Institute Research and Development (SHIRD)

SHIRD is the world-leader in adaptogen research. In short, adaptogens are a natural substance that stimulates our defense against stress and neutralizes the negative effects that arise at the cellular level. Adaptogens benefit in many contexts, for example, strengthen physical and mental recovery and endurance, mitigate anxiety and mild depression, compensates for sleep deprivation etc. The worlds most famous adaptogen researchers Alexander Panossyan and Georg Wikman (founder of SHI) have been leading the work in the adaptogen field. SHI SHR-5 rhodiola rosea extract is the most well documented world wide and was also the first Rhodiola Rosea product (Arctic Root) launched in the western world. Nowadays, Rhodiola is one of the most popular herbs in the world.

SHIRD identify mechanisms of action, effect and safety of individual substances with a focus on being able to combine these to develop new, innovative commercials products. They are co-located with SHIs production facility, with its own R&D laboratory.
